Mr. And Miss Kibera: Promoting Peace Through Beauty

On 12th November, Kibera held a fashion and beauty pageant to promote peaceful co-existence and better leadership. The event organized by Amani Kibera, attracted hundreds of Kibera residents advocating for peace in the coming general elections.

The pageant saw 18 contestants model professional outfits such as a nurse, footballer, pilot and police officer to show that they can be part of the nation’s workforce.

They also showcased their own creativity, wearing outfits crafted from steel wool, foil papers, braids, and beverage straws.

Kibera born hip-hop artist Octopizzo together with a group of other local artists graced the event one after the other to perform on stage and spread the message of peace, love, and unity.

In front of a crowd of about 500 people, including hip-hop artist Octopizzo, Friscoh Jepkemei and Hussein Mzafar were crowned Mr and Miss Kibera 2016.
